Alex Evan Poorman was born June 26, 1986 in Kearney, Nebraska to Ed and Mary (Vance) Poorman. He was raised in Kearney and received his education from Kearney High School, graduating with the class of 2004.
Alex had a passion for paintball and even played at the semi-pro level. Most of all he loved being a dad to his three children. Whether it was coaching baseball, watching Star Wars or listening to music and dancing around, Alex just enjoyed being with them. He was also an avid Denver sports fan and was thrilled when the Nuggets and Avalanche won championships last year. In 2012, Alex saved his dad's life by donating part of his liver, and he continues to give the gift of life even after his death as an organ and tissue donor. He is a real life superhero.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Ed and Mary Poorman of Kearney; wife, Rachal Skeen of Kearney; children, Raylan, Bowen and Mia Poorman all of Kearney; brother, Aaron Poorman of Kearney; sister, Heather Slotnick Merrill of San Diego; nephew, Oliver Merrill; grandparents, Albert and Lisa Poorman of Kearney; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lynn and Kilae Vance; and his uncles, Ron Vance and Kent Maaske.
