HOLDREGE - A Memorial Service for Delta Mae Johnson will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2023 at the Holdrege Methodist Church with Pastor George Probasco officiating. A private inurnment will be at a later date at Prairie Home Cemetery.

Delta Mae "Mae" Johnson, 78, died on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Christian Homes Care Community. She was born on January 4, 1945, at her grandfather's house in Edison, the youngest of four children, born to Glenn Furman Vincent and Hazel Mae (Stump) Deselms. On March 12, 1967, Mae was united in marriage to Keith Johnson in Holdrege. The couple were blessed with two children: Kathy and Charles.

Mae began working for Holdrege Memorial Homes in the Dietary Department and in later years worked at the Holdrege Daily Citizen and Christian Homes Care Community as a housekeeper. Mae also worked as a domestic aid, cleaned at the hotel, and at Phelps Memorial Health Center as a courier.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Deselms and wife, Gwen, sister, Flossie Deselms, at the age of 9; her husband, Keith Johnson in 2014; a granddaughter, Barbara Mae Rogers; her daughter, Kathy Rogers in 2022; sister-in-law, Kathy Bryan; and brother-in-law, Dwight Edwards.

Survivors are her son, Charlie Johnson of Holdrege; sister, Betty Edwards of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Steve Bryan of rural Holdrege; son-in-law, William "Bill" Rogers of Alma; two step-grandchildren: Justin Rogers; and Jennifer Rogers; extended family members; and many friends.

A memorial book signing will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 2 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting from 6-7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established and kindly is suggested to the family for later designation.
