KEARNEY - Dennis E. Scott, 67, of Kearney died Friday, April 16, 2021, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Revs. Michelle Holley Carlson and Rick Carlson officiating. Inurnment will follow at First Lutheran Church Columbarium.

Dennis Edward Scott was born Sept. 5, 1953, in Holdrege to Jimmy E. and Lucille (Phillips) Scott. He received his education from Kearney High School, graduating with the class of 1971. Dennis entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 25, 1972, and proudly served until his honorable discharge on Jan. 16, 1975.
Dennis worked for Howland Manufacturing as a metal spinner. It was there where he met Denise Vannier. They married Oct. 26, 1984, in Columbus.
While in Columbus, Dennis worked for Island Supply and Welding. They later moved to Grinnell, Iowa, where he worked 21 years for Donaldson Corporation Inc. until his retirement.
Dennis was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kearney as well as a member of the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Scott of Kearney; brother-in-law, David (Kevin Marion) Vannier of Plano, Texas; nieces and nephews, Amber (Paul) Tygensen, Tim (Sharlene) Roth, Nicholas (Nicole) Roth, Ed Schriner, Steve Schriner, James Scott and Jonathan Scott; several great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as a sister-in-law in Omaha and her family; and a cousin, Kent Hawkinson.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Don Scott; sister, Connie Schriner; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Roth; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elnor and Kenneth Vannier.
Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church or to the Central Nebraska Veterans Home.
