Donevieve R. "Donnie" Ourada
Donevieve R. "Donnie" Ourada, 95 of Kearney formerly from Elm Creek, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Keens Memorial Home in Kearney. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February, 27, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with Father Joe Hannappel officiating. Interment will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Elm Creek. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the church followed by a 7:00 p.m. Vigil/Prayer Service.
Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
Donnie was born October 1, 1928 in rural Elm Creek, Nebraska to Adolph and Mabel (Ashbaugh) Kaps. She was raised in Elm Creek and received her education from Elm Creek High School, graduating with the class of 1946. After attending college, she taught at District 94 country school. On May 31, 1949, Donnie was united in marriage Don M. Ourada in Elm Creek. To this union four children were blessed. The couple farmed near Elm Creek until moving into town in February of 1994.
Donnie was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was active in Alter Society. Donnie was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a past member of Extension Club, Garden Club, Coffee Club, and Library Board. She was a 51-year member and leader of 4-H in Buffalo County. She enjoyed reading and gardening in her free time as well as watching Husker football and volleyball. Highlights were watching her grandchildren in all their activities.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Kathryn Gifford of Kearney, Michael Ourada (Marsha) of Kearney, Renita Ourada of Overton; daughter-in-law, Gloria Ourada Siminsen (George) of Elm Creek; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, brother, Wayne "Pete" Kaps of Kearney; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Ourada; sons, Nickolas Ourada; James Ourada; brothers, Keith Kaps and infant brother, and son-in-law Mike Gifford.

What a wonderful lady, she would bring our mail out to the feedlot nearly every day. We miss her warm smile and kindness, especially in this Christmas season. Thank you for all you and Don did for us. Marvin and Mel Huyser, M & M Feeders.

Kathy and family...So sorry to hear of your mom´s passing. I´m so glad you were able to have her in your life for so many years. My mom made it to age 96, and I miss her every day.

What a wonderful lady and friend. Her and Don were so much support to Mel and I when we came to Nebraska. Donnie would bring the mail up to the feedlot each morning and greet us with her wonderful smile. We will always miss you and your encouragement each morning. Mel and Marvin

Kathy and family, Your Mom was so instrumental in my 4-H history, Thank you Donnie!. I will always remember all the times Gloria Sutherland & family, my Mom, Ione McHale-Pierce, & family, and your Mom & family would get together to freeze corn, bake cookies and had the best gatherings!!!! Donnie, Gloria & Ione were Best Friends!!! I miss all three of those Ladies..I bet they are having coffee and cookies or some kind of sweet snack in their Heavenly Home...My thoughts and prayers for your family!!
