Emma Carranza Obituary
November 4, 1932 - August 25, 2025
Emma Carranza, 92, of Kearney, went home to see the Lord Monday, August 25, 2025, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Josh Brown officiating and burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., August 29, 2025, at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later. Emma was born on November 4, 1932, in Overton to Cash and Betty (Gallegos) Garcia. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School and then attended Kearney State College.
Emma married Jose "Joe" Carranza November 17, 1951. They lived in Kearney, where she was the head receptionist at Kearney Clinic. After retiring they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Internationally. She also liked to knit, crochet, cross stitch, dance, do search and find puzzles, play bingo, and watch Husker football and volleyball. Most important though was spending time with her family.
Emma is survived by her son, Joe and Judy Carranza of Kearney; daughters, Emily and Arlynn Aldinger of Kearney, Judy and Steve Grimsley of Kearney, Margie and Ron Clang of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and brother, Glen and Sandy Garcia of Olympia, Wash.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Nancy Hermanson, five brothers, and five sisters.
