OMAHA - Jerry Jurgensen, 73, of Gibbon died Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith United Church in Gibbon with the Rev. Mike Evans officiating.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military honors provided by Gibbon American Legion Post 310 in conjunction with the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

Jerry was born June 16, 1948, in Burwell to Harley A. and Leona (Gillespie) Jurgensen. He was raised in Burwell and received his education from Burwell High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. Following his graduation, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1966, where he proudly served one year in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in July 1968.
Jerry married Eileen Scheierman on June 17, 1967, in Harvard. The couple moved to Ord where Jerry was a farmhand and rancher. The family moved to Loup City and later Gibbon where he continued to farm and ranch. Jerry also was a mechanic at a farm implement dealership and worked for the city of Gibbon and Buffalo County Department of Roads before retiring in 1995.
Jerry was a member of the American Legion and VFW Clubs and Faith United Church. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's numerous events, watching westerns and visiting with friends and neighbors on his front porch.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Jurgensen of Mount Carmel Home, Kearney; children, Calvin (Nancy) Jurgensen of Oswego, Kansas, Deeon (Josh) Cederburg of Axtell and Jennifer (Leon) Smith of Gibbon; grandchildren, Zachary Chavez, Caleb (Mae) Jurgensen, Nikota (Justin) Powell, Nicole Cederburg, Stephanie Cederburg, Dalton Smith (and fiancée, Haleigh Westadt), Miranda Smith and Chase Smith; great-grandchildren, Kamryn Chavez and Aidon Jurgensen; siblings, Kenneth Jurgensen of Burwell, Dorothy Brockman of Burwell, Ronald (Carleen) Jurgensen of Kearney, Roland "Doc" (Lois) Jurgensen of Omaha and Sheryl (Bill) Holt of Callaway; sisters-in-law, Verna Jurgensen of Girard, Kansas and Ina Jurgensen of Hastings; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Blake Chavez; brothers, Harold and Harley Jurgensen; sister-in-law Vonnie Jurgensen; and brother-in-law Richard Brockman.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
