Juanita Manfull Obituary

Gibbon resident, 64

KEARNEY - Juanita J. "Nita" Manfull, 64, of Gibbon died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Church Fellowship Hall with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Family burial will be later.

There will be no visitation. Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Johnson City, N.Y., to Gordon and Helena (Raupers) Jacobs.

On Sept. 29, 1969, she married Bill Manfull in Shelton.

Survivors include her husband; son, Raymond of Valley Center, Kan.; daughters, Susan Lee and Nancy Scott, both of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Julie Forman of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; brothers, Robert of New York and Gordon of North Carolina; and sister, Yvonne Loveless of Florida.

She grew up in Vestal, N.Y., and graduated from high school there. In 1968, she met Bill Manfull in San Diego, where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. They were married in Shelton and had made their home in the Gibbon area since.

She later attended Kearney State College, now the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and Hastings Technical School, where she received degrees in dietary management. Good Samaritan Hospital and several care homes had employed her in their dietary divisions before ill health forced her early retirement.

She enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, cardinals and cats. She later took up sewing as a new mission in life. She made many gloves for the Orphan Train project, blankets for the State Patrol and servicemen in Iraq, and doll clothes for many young friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Delores; and sister-in-law, Jean Manfull.

Per Nita's wishes, casual dress is suggested for the celebration of life.

Memorials are suggested to the Gibbon Emergency Unit or the Sew'N Sew group of the church.
