Kathleen Marie (Horton) Daly
Kathleen Marie (Horton) Daly, age 67, of Arnold NE, formerly of Kearney passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at her home in Arnold with her devoted husband Dan by her side. Funeral mass will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney with Father Michael Pampara as celebrant. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Kathleen was born on June 20, 1956, to Melvin Eugene and Mildred Martha (Maruska) Horton. She joined 2 brothers, Melvin Jr. and James, and a sister Beverly. Kathy grew up in Kearney Nebraska, graduating from Kearney High School in 1974. She attended Kearney State College and worked for GTE (later known as Frontier) for a total of 32 years. Kathy started out as an operator in 1974, then moved up to a Service Analysis in the mid 1980's and then to the Engineering Department as a Draftsman in 1994 until her retirement in 2006.
On August 16, 1980, she married Daniel Joseph "Bear" Daly at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney NE. To this union one son was born in 1982, James Michael Daly. Jim married Valerie Sue Nuzum in 2017. Dan and Kathy lived in Kearney for many years, until they both retired, and then moved to Arnold NE to be closer to Jim and Val.
Kathy always wanted to keep busy! She read, cooked, collected recipes, and sewed. Her talents made everything she made very special. Many of her family and extended family have received quilts made by her. Each a work of art. She also baked many cakes and cupcakes for special occasions and weddings.
Kathy is precedent in death by her parents Melvin and Mildren Horton, James and Rita Daly, and her sister Beverly Hochberger in 2015, Brother-in-laws Richard Camp and Terry Kuchar. Niece: Jamie Rowedder.
She is survived by her husband, Dan, her son Jim (Valerie) Daly, all of Arnold NE. Brothers: Melvin (Pauline) Omaha NE, James (Donna) Nashville TN. Nieces and nephews on the Horton side: Melvin III, Michelle (Eva), John (Shayla), Thomas (Jenny) Hochberger, Krista (Tim) Huerta, Joe Horton, Carrie (Steve) Camp, and Heather (Alex) Cole. Also, sisters-in-law; Maryln Camp, Margaret (Thomas) Camp, Kathleen Kuchar, Jean (Kim) Brown, and Jacquline (Robert) Brown. Nieces and nephews on the Daly side: Todd (Nikki) Camp, Kimberly (Nick) Grimit, Tara Camp, Lynelle (Rick) Kowalski, Toni (Troy) Dannehl, Nathan (Janelle) Camp, Terry Kuchar, and Partick (Rachel) Brown. 28 great nieces and nephews, and 7 great-great nieces and nephews.

We were so sorry to hear of Kathy´s passing. I worked with Bev for years, so saw Dan and Kathy frequently.

Kathy was a wonderful person her smile and laugh would lite up a room. She will be missed by many. Her memories of our high school days live on with me. She will never be forgotten. Prayers to the family may God comfort you. Rest in peace Kathy
