--
Lindsay was born Aug. 5, 1978, in Cambridge to Doug and Judy (Steele) Collins.
She began her education in Edison with her mother as her kindergarten teacher. Lindsay was confirmed on May 3, 1992, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe.
In May 1996 she graduated from Arapahoe High School and in the fall started college at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. Lindsay earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in May 2000 and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to teach. In 2002 she moved to Denver, Colorado, to work at Children's Hospital. She then worked at Jefferson Hills Adolescent Treatment Center in Lakewood, Colorado, as case manager for at-risk youths for the next seven years. With her pulmonary hypertension diagnosis, she needed to find a less physically demanding job. Kids Smart was the answer. As program director of children in before and after school learning activities, she found a job she loved. Lindsay worked with her kids for the next 10 years until her health forced her to stop in May.
Lindsay loved the stage in high school, college and after making her home in Colorado, Lindsay performed in theatre productions, participated in plays, melodramas and at Colorado's Renaissance Fair in Lakespur.
Lindsay was a strong advocate for the disease that eventually took her life. Throughout the years after her diagnosis, she traveled across the United States to attend and speak at Pulmonary Hypertension conferences. She led the Colorado Springs PH Support Group and participated in PH meetings in Denver.
The sparkle of Lindsay's personality and her infectious smile will be missed by everyone who knew her. This life changing disease may have changed the way Lindsay lived her life, but it did not change her love for life.
Lindsay will be loved and remembered forever by her parents, Doug and Judy Collins of Arapahoe; sister Shannon Collins of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandparents, Lyle and Norma Steele and Ilene Collins of Arapahoe; boyfriend Brian Koel of Lakewood, Colorado; special friend Laura Olson of Westminster, Colorado; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Lindsay was preceded in death by her grandfather Alvin Collins, aunt Vicki Mues and uncle David Collins.
Memorials may be made in Lindsay's name to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 8401 Coleville Road, Suite 200, Silver Springs, MD 20910. The website address in http://phassociation.org/donation/

Shannon, Norma and Doug,
My heart and prayers go up for you. Lindsey is quite an amazing valient person. Yes, is, not was. I'm sure she is receiving crowns for her faith and service. Her joy is complete. But for her family and friends, not so much. Praying.
Lindsey was in Michael's class in HS.

I love the saying that PH changed the way she lived life, but not the way she loved life. She taught me so much about living. She was an inspiration and a friend and I will miss her (and her cute laugh.)
