Mary Lou (Gehrig) Boyll

Mary Lou (Gehrig) Boyll was born in Phillipsburg, Kan. on March 25, 1948 to Johnnie (Bud) Gehrig and Ruth (Pohlenz) Gehrig. She grew up on her family farm, southwest of Orleans, Neb. She was raised in the house her great grandfather built in 1905. She remained an only child for 11 years and then welcomed her brother Roger in 1959.

Mary Lou went to school in Long Island, Kan. and graduated with the class of 1966. She worked as a clerk for the City of Alma, and later for the Harlan County Bank.

On October 25, 1975 she married William "Bill" Boyll of Holdrege, Neb. at her home church, Long Island Methodist. They lived in Holdrege where she worked as a bookkeeper. She left the working world to raise her three sons, Jay, Travis (Isabelle) and Scott (Erin). Once the boys were older, she worked for the ESU #11 preschool - Bethel Lutheran's Tutoring Tots, where she was known as Mrs. B, and also worked at Head Start in Holdrege.

Through the years, Mary Lou and her family attended North Park Assembly in Holdrege, New Life Church in Kearney, and Hillcrest in Seward. She always remembered the exact date she asked Jesus to live in her heart, October 5, 1980.

She was blessed with nine grand and oh how she loved being a Grammy to Trevor, Tyler, Ian, Leo, Ava, Addi, Drew, Becca and Eli.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 50 years, William (Bill) Boyll; her three sons; her nine grandchildren; and her brother, Roger Gehrig (Micki).

Visitation with family present at Volzke Funeral Home on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Service at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church, Seward, Nebraska on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 1 p.m.

Committal at Kearney Cemetery on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 1 p.m.
