Hastings resident, 89
HASTINGS - Pauline Lillie (Stoughton) Brouillette, 89, of Hastings died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour before services Friday. The family will be present from 4-6 p.m. Thursday.
Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Dec. 1, 1920, in Bladen to Thomas and Anna (Tucker) Stoughton.
She married Donald L. Brouillette in St. Paul, Minn. He died March 10, 1994.
Survivors include her sons, Monte Brouillette and his wife, Colleen, of St. Paul, Neb., and Gary Brouillette and his wife, Pat, of Elm Creek; grandchildren and their spouses, Suzy and Rick Peters and Travis and Angie Brouillette, all of St. Paul, Neb., Tarin Brouillette of San Diego and Tyne Brouillette of Elm Creek; great-grandchildren, Amber Nelson and fiancé John Wissing of St. Libory, Sam Nelson of Lincoln, Brooke Brouillette of Kearney and Quinn Brouillette and Turner Brouillette, both of St. Paul, Neb.; stepgrandsons, Brock Peters of St. Paul, Neb., and Brett Peters of Doniphan; great-great-grandson, Blake Wissing of St. Libory; sister, Leone Kaufman of Hastings; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Bladen High School and taught school there for a short time. Shortly after this time she met Donald L. Brouillette of Campbell. They were later married in St. Paul, Minn.
After a short time, they moved back to Campbell and then to Hastings. To this union, two sons were born: Monte in 1944 and Gary in 1948.
The family followed construction to Culbertson before moving to Alma for the rest of their married life. During their married life, they partnered in operating several businesses, The Reno Bar in Hastings, Don's Place in Alma and their last venture, Don's Men's Clothing, also in Alma.
Pauline was a kind and caring person who enjoyed her work with her husband. She also enjoyed nature at its best, and on the hottest days of the year she could be seen hanging clothes or digging in their garden. She also loved to cook for the extended family and "Grandma's White Cake" with her special frosting was a secret she never revealed.
She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
