Robin W. Marshall, age 86, of Kearney, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, NE. Father Joe Hannappel will celebrate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Kearney Catholic High School Foundation, Crossroads Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Robin was born July 4, 1937 in Kearney, NE to Warren and Harriet Cole Marshall. On July 6, 1955 he married his childhood sweetheart Judy Siebenaler at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek, NE. They have three sons.

Robin was a well-known auctioneer and served as president of the National Auctioneers Association in 1995-96. He also served as president of the Nebraska Auctioneers Association. He was inducted into the National Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2002 and into the Nebraska Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2003. As president and board member of the NAA he traveled to 26 states giving seminars. In 1996, the National Auctioneers Association selected St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as their national charity. As president, Robin presented a one million dollar check to the hospital. The association has continued to raise several million dollars.

Robin's auctioneering career spanned over 65 years conducting thousands of auctions. He started his career working for his father at the Kearney Livestock Auction Market. Robin and his brother Eugene purchased the livestock market from their father's estate and operated the market for 16 years. Robin continued his auction career operating Marshall Land Brokers & Auctioneers with his son, Miles. The company specializes in agriculture land and equipment sales. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Marshall Equipment Auction held at the fairgrounds, one of Nebraska's largest equipment auctions.

Robin's love for auctioneering carried through to the many fundraising auctions he conducted annually. He helped raise millions of dollars for foundations and charities. A special source of pride to him was raising funds for The Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA), cancer research at the Cattlemen's Ball, raising funds for Make– A –Wish, conducting 4-H Livestock Auctions and raising funds for Kearney Catholic High School.

Robin served as chairman of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce, the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees, Board of Directors of Richard Young Psychiatric Hospital, 19 years on Southern Public Power Board of Directors, 38 years on the Platte Valley State Bank & Trust Company Board of Directors plus many other boards and committees. He also received several awards, including the Hub Freedom Business/Industry award and the Nebraska Banker's Association 2012 Agribusiness award.

Robin and his wife Judy raised and fed cattle on their farm located southwest of Elm Creek for 45 years. After they discontinued their cattle operation, they moved to Kearney. Their son, Art, continued the farming operation. Robin and Judy eventually purchased a second home in Mesa, AZ. In later years Robin enjoyed doing outdoor maintenance work at his son Norris's engine plant, driving his John Deere tractor. He said it was his golf game.

Robin was baptized in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek and later transferred their membership to St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. He was an active member in both parishes and served on both Church councils. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight.

Robin and Judy believed in Catholic education, and they were supporters of Kearney Catholic High School. He graduated from Elm Creek High School and was a graduate of Reisch Worldwide College of Auctioneering.

He loved being with his family and was very proud of them. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He believed if you didn't make a difference to others, you missed the purpose of life. He believed to be successful you need to surround yourself with good people. He would say, "The turtle didn't get on top of the post by himself".

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Rudyard, Lawrence and Eugene; sister, Lois Rahmann; half-brother, Tom Marshall; brother-in-law, Clarence Rahmann; sisters-in-law, Donna Marshall, Norma Marshall and Arbetta Marshall.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; their three sons, Art (Kristi) of Elm Creek, Miles (Brenda) of Kearney, Norris (Lori) of Kearney; eleven grandchildren, Lindsey Miles (Mitch) of Grand Island, Amanda Sutter (Pete) of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah Luderer (Micah) of Elkhorn, Ashley Bostron (Ed) of Kearney, Megan Basnett (Chris) of Lincoln, Mallory Huddleston (Luke) of Kearney, Amber Simpson (Troy) of Cantonment, FL, Adam Marshall (Jennifer) of Kearney, Andrew Marshall of Kearney, McKenzie Marshall (Jen) of Kansas City, MO, Derek Marshall (Becky Svatora) of Omaha; eighteen great- grandchildren; sister, Deanna Francis of Nevada, MO; sister-in-law, Irma Marshall; several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
