Kathy Lynn Ross was born on January 8, 1954 in Cozad, Neb. to Milton and Marge (Gaudreault) Ross. She graduated from Cozad High school in 1972, receiving her bachelor's degree in Education from Kearney State College. Starting her career in social work, she went on to serve children and families across the state as a teacher, para, and caregiver for 43 years. In her youth she could be seen twirling the baton, water skiing at Midway Lake, and participating in Job's Daughters.

Scott Taylor Maline was born on December 18, 1951 in Cozad, Neb. to Donald and Isabel (Taylor) Maline. He graduated from Cozad High school in 1970 and received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Kearney State College. Kathy met her high school sweetheart, Scott, in the halls of Cozad High. They married on August 23, 1974 in Cozad, Neb. and were devoted to each other for 51 years. The couple was blessed with three children: Heidi, and twins Brooke and Brett. Kathy was proud to be an active member of Chapter EG PEO in Kearney and loved volunteering for the Kearney Literacy Council. Scott was a member of Rotary International and volunteered for CASA and Teammates. Their children and extended family will cherish memories of special holidays and vacations and their unconditional love and support. Their legacy will live on through the many lives they've touched.

Having grown up in Cozad I knew both Scott & Kathy. What remarkable people they have been, & their contributions to education & the students´ lives they impacted. My family interacted with/the Malone Family at all of the events at the Methodist Church in Cozad. I took baton lessons from Kathy´s mom & got to see Kathy frequently at lessons.
My sincere condolences to all of you as you process their passing. As you each continue on your life´s journey, may you find comfort in revealing all the wonderful memories you have had with Scott & Kathy. Blessings on each of you.
In sympathy, Ginny May

My family moved from North Platte, Nebraska to Cozad in the fall of 1957 and met the Maline family through the Methodist Church and I believe my dad met Don and his brother Glendon Maline through the Cozad Jaycees. Scott and I both loved sports and would play basketball, football and/or baseball whenever our families got together. We later moved to Hastings having lived in Cozad about 1 1/2 years but it seemed much longer than
that. I have great memories of the Maline family and Scott´s great accomplishments in education and sports was not a surprise to those who knew him. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet Kathy and the rest of their family but our thoughts and prayers are with Heidi, Brooke, Brett and all the family. Scott and Kathy are alive in their eternal home and embraced in our Father´s loving arms!
