Wilma A. Henderson, 92, of Kearney, passed peacefully to heaven at 4:04 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025, at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, at the Kearney E-Free Church with Pastor Tim Peterson officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Keene Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2025, at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Wilma Ann Henderson was born in Denver, Colo., on February 1, 1933, to Dorsey Polen Marting and Mildred Velcein Marting. She had an older brother, Fredric, and sister, Mildred. Her parents were divorced when she was 10. Her father married Dorila from Peru. After many years, her mother married Lawrence Kowalezyk. Wilma grew up mostly in the Denver area. While in high school, she came to know and accept Jesus Christ as her Savior.

She was united in marriage to William Allen Henderson on February 3, 1951. Five children were born to this union, Kathleen, Karen, Stephen, Susan and Richard. Wilma was a stay-at-home mom during their growing up years.

They lived in Chicago, Ill. for four years while Bill attended Moody Bible Institute, then returned to Colorado for three years, before moving to Kearney, Neb. in August 1961.

Wilma was a long time member of the Kearney Evangelical Free Church.

In 1970, she became the secretary at Park Elementary School in Kearney which she enjoyed very much. She retired in 1994 to become Bill's unofficial secretary serving the Keene Evangelical Free church near Axtell, Neb. for the next six years.

In 1999, Wilma and Bill joined RVICS, Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service. They took their fifth wheel RV to various volunteer projects in many different states across the nation for the next nine years; a very rewarding and enjoyable time. Then Wilma volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital in the surgery waiting area.

Wilma enjoyed camping, traveling, sightseeing and bowling. She loved her family dearly and would travel many miles to share in their activities and special occasions.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and spouses, Kathy and John Storm of OKC, Okla., Karen and Bill Amstuz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Steve and Phyllis Henderson of Flat Rock, Mich., Susan and Sam Gullion of Louisville, Ky., Rick and Pam Henderson of Kearney, Neb; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; stepmother, Dorila Marting.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Henderson; brother, Fred; sister, Mildred Tucker; and stepfather, Larry Kowalczyk.
