Betty Powell Obituary
Albertha "Betty" Powell was born June 7, 1937 to Bernardus and Marie (Ymker) Schelling in Des Moines, IA. She was united in marriage to Frank Powell on July 11, 1957 in Corsica. Together, they farmed south east of Armour. In addition to helping on the farm, she worked at the nursing home in both Wagner and Armour and at the Rocket Newspaper in Armour. She was a member of the Netherland's Reformed Congregation in Corsica and enjoyed crocheting and bible studies. Betty died Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, IA at the age of 88.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Marvin (Lois) Powell of Cheyenne, WY; 9 grandchildren: Joanie (Vern) McFarland of Hubbard, NE; Denise Powell of Sioux City; Shawn Stevens of Sioux Falls, SD; Marcus (Grace) Stevens of Kansas City, MO; Shane (Shelly) Powell of Aledo Texas; Amber (Jay) Mendoza of Brighton Colorado; Brittnee Frerichs of Milbank SD; Lacey (Doug) Bates of Wellington Colorado; and Jordan (Kelsey) Powell of Cheyenne WY; 10 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; daughter, Sharon Watkins; 3 sisters, Hattie Hubers, Marlene Zomer, and Minnie Jean VanDerWerff; and 4 brothers, Rochus, Lambert, John and Cornie Schelling.
