Karlie Jo Bruining went to be with the stars at Ava's House on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in the loving arms of her mother. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. Karlie was born in North Dakota on November 4, 2021. After a month-long NICU stay with multiple medical procedures, she was transferred to Lifescape-Fisher Coon in Sioux Falls. The next few months were filled with healing from an open heart procedure and facial surgery. It was also the place where Karlie and Brandy's story would begin. On October 24, 2022, Karlie came home. What started as foster care, quickly changed to wanted adoption and forever. During the 2 short years with Brandy, Karlie would defy all odds put against her. With help of her therapist, daycare, and doctors/providers, Karlie learned to walk, talk, and eat her favorite foods by mouth. Karlie, Brandy, family, and friends enjoyed many experiences including flag football, softball, kickball, USD and even a Vikings and Wild game. Everywhere Karlie went she made friends. Her infectious smile, sweet giggle and unbiased love drew everyone she came in contact with into her tribe. As Karlie's health unexpectedly and quickly declined, 1 piece of the puzzle was left: adoption. While in the loving hands of Ava's House, Karlie was able to be baptized with Brandy's tears and the adoption finalized. Karlie now officially and legally forever Karlie Jo Bruining, Brandy's daughter. Love You Always.
