Lorraine Swee

Lorraine E. (Peterson) Swee, 89, of Vermillion, South Dakota passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center with her family by her side.
Lorraine was born in Centerville, SD on November 1, 1932 to Jacob and Gertrude (Viking) Peterson. She attended school in rural Dalesburg and graduated from high school in Vermillion, SD
She was united in marriage to Marvin L Swee on September 20, 1949 in Vermillion. They were blessed with four children, Steve, Bradley, Bryan, and Suzanne. She and Marvin farmed in Clay County, SD and she enjoyed raising chickens and gardening.
After moving to Vermillion, she was employed by the Vermillion Public Schools.
She was a life-long member of 4-H. She was a 4-H leader for many years and was a county fair judge. She also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion and participated in women auxiliary.
In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed crafting, sewing, baking, and quilting.

Lorraine is survived by her 2 sons, Steve (Claudia) Swee of Omaha, NE, Bradley (Linda) Swee of Vermillion, SD; 5 grandchildren, Trisha (Mike) Rasmussen of Elk Point, SD, Wesley (Kendra) Swee of St. James, MO, Wendy (Kevin) Anstine of Dell Rapids, SD, Nicholas (Lucy) Swee of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Mitchell (Candice) Swee of Columbia, MO; 7 great-grandchildren, Jade and Harper Anstine, Regan and Kenley Rasmussen, and Oliver, Collin, and Lorelei Swee.; her sister, Carol Carlson of Beresford, SD, and her brother, Robert Peterson of St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin, a son, Bryan and a daughter, Suzanne; two brothers and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to Union County 4-H, or Trinity Lutheran Church Women's Group of Vermillion.
