Nick Irvin Johnson

Nick Irvin Johnson, age 76, of Sioux Falls, died on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. A celebration of his life will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Swedish Augustana Cemetery, rural Flandreau.

Nick was born on April 15, 1947, in Flandreau, South Dakota, to Irvin G. and Alice (Olevson) Johnson. He grew up in Flandreau until the family moved to Sioux Falls. Nick attended Washington High School. After his education, he served in the United State Marine Corps in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked at his dad's service station in Sioux Falls and as a delivery driver for Coca-Cola. He then worked as a baker for Hy-Vee, Kessler's in Aberdeen, Brenda's Pastries, the Dell Rapids Bakery, and Daylight Doughnuts.

Survivors include his siblings: Lindy Ihnen, Salem, South Dakota, Dick Johnson, Kenai, Alaska, Cindy (Bill) Covey, Springfield, Missouri, and Kim Ladd, Sioux Falls; special step-son, Ryan (Kristi) Austin, Dell Rapids; step grandson, Jacob Austin; several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
