Noah Hierholzer Obituary

Noah Mathew Hierholzer, age 22, died unexpectedly from a fatal car accident in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 7, 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with family present one hour prior for visitation. The family invites you to join them for lunch following the funeral mass before burial at the State Veteran's Cemetery.
Noah was born December 5, 1999 to parents Mark and Gail Hierholzer, in Sacramento California, where he spent his early childhood. In 2010 Noah's parents relocated to Sioux Falls, where he would go on to graduate form Harrisburg High school in 2017. Noah enlisted in the United States Army, immediately after graduation and went on to become a Combat Medic. Noah returned to the Sioux Falls area in 2020 and worked as a temporary employ, for the City of Sioux Falls and the City of Harrisburg. He just enrolled in the South East Tech Institute to pursue the Engineering Technician program. Noah was still undecided if he would eventually go on to a four-year program to become a full fledge Civil Engineer.
Noah's enjoyed spending time with his Dad and Brother and he also enjoyed his new-found love Kaitlyn. Both Noah and Kaitlyn were very fond of spending the weekends together, "just doing nothing", as he would often say. Noah also like to stay active, with hiking, riding his long board, heading off to the gun range with his brother, or any of his buddies that were ready to go. Noah also like to take in the many nice restaurants in the Sioux Falls area.
Noah would also take any opportunity to travel, when he had the chance. While Noah was in the Army, it was common for Noah to go visit his Army Buddies that were stationed in other states, just so he could say Hi, and get a chance to see some new things that he had not seen yet. One summer, Noah and his dad took a trip oversees to the Island San Miguel, which is part of the Azore island chain.
Noah was always a large presence in the room. His personality was large and friendly, everyone was his friend, he just may not know their name yet, but he would always greet a stranger with smile and a friendly conversation. Noah was always generous with his family and enjoyed spending time with his Dad and Brother, just driving around, or watching some tv.
Noah is Lovingly remembered by his many family members; including his Dad, and brother, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends. Noah's mother passed on December 26, 2014.

Noah, you are always going to be so missed. I will never forget your infectious laugh and your kind heart. I still remember this one party that we went to, you were laughing at michael and I and running around the room like a mad man. You always made us laugh. Life isn’t fair, you should be here. We love you and will miss you dearly. Hugs to the Hierholzer family.

Noah was my student at Harrisburg High School. I always knew I could engage in a conversation with him about anything, but particularly worldly affairs, and I knew he was beyond his years in intellect. I so enjoyed that about him! I knew he had a tremendous amount of promise for his future, and I am so very saddened by his passing. He always will be one of my students I will never forget.

Noah, you were an amazing friend and as hard as it is knowing I will never have another conversation with you, I know you are still here with us all in a different way. Rest In Peace, friend. I will never forget you and our silly conversations. I am so glad to have had you in my life for as long as I did, even if it was a short period of time. Fly high.

Gone too soon, is the understatement. Such a great kid. I remember when you graduated High School, went into the Army we were all so proud of you. Now just a few short years later just as your life was beginning it is over. You have so many people who love you and will miss you. I being one of them, your brother and father will also be left with a huge void in their lives. One day we all will be reunited; until that day comes I hope you will rejoice in the next chapter of your being.

Love You Noah,

Uncle Gregg

Mark and Noah came and stayed with me when Micah was graduating from basic training at Ft Benning. After a few days of Noah hearing Mark and I talk about the Air Force and all our good times, he said, “It feels like you are my Aunt.” I agreed because in that short time we bonded and it really seemed that way. Due to living in different states, we didn’t spend a lot of time together. We did, however, text some. He had such a big, loving heart and I will miss him! Mark and Micah, take comfort in knowing he’s in Gail’s arms right now.
