Oksana Ostapivna Sushchik (Grinyuk) was born on November 5th, 1939 in village of Topylishche, Ukraine in a family of six kids. two of the them died in infancy.
Her childhood was marked by hardship during World War II. In 1944, when she was only 6 years old, her father was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the remote Urals for his faith in God. The family endured great poverty during his absence. There were evenings when her mother and siblings went to bed without a crumb of food, yet the Lord performed extraordinary miracles and moved people to help them in their time of need.
After completing 7 years of village school, Oksana worked on a collective farm. In 1957, she married Petr, a coal miner, and moved to the city of Novovolynsk, where they built their life together. The couple had 5 sons and 2 daughters, though their firstborn son, Viktor, died at only 9 months old.
Oksana devoted herself to raising her children while working in the fields on a collective farm when possible. She had a compassionate heart, always attentive to those in need and the sick, regularly preparing food for them. Her unique talent for baking sweets became a gift to her community, as she lovingly baked for many weddings.
In December 1997, Oksana and Petr moved to America, settling in Sioux Falls. She remained well connected with friends both in America and in Ukraine throughout her years there.
The Lord blessed Petr and Oksana with 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. They shared 63 years of marriage until Petr's passing in 2021.On the morning of October 27, 2025, Oksana peacefully entered into eternity.

Funeral services will take place at House of God Church on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. and a graveside burial service will be at Woodlawn Cemetery on Friday, October 31, 2025, at noon.
