Robert Corey Obituary

Robert "Bob" George Corey, a man of many hats-road warrior, cowboy, father, stepfather, step-grandfather, great grandfather and provider-passed away peacefully while under Hospice care at the Sioux Falls VA on December 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on February 13, 1933, Bob lived a full and adventurous life. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career in the automotive industry, working in Canton and Sioux Falls. His work took him across the country, and his dedication kept him traveling well into his 80s. Having a deep appreciation for the outdoors, Bob loved working around his acreage, where he found joy in "tending" to the land and "spending time" with his horses. An avid horseman, Bob's passion for horses was a defining part of his life as he enjoyed many long hours on trail rides with some of his greatest friends. He also enjoyed hunting pheasants, ducks and geese, as well as skiing, golfing, and tennis. His connection to the open air and his cowboy spirit were always evident in everything he did. Above all, Bob cherished his family. He leaves behind his wife, Angie Dolan; his three children, Steve (Jennifer), Che'lisa (Tim), and Teresa (Russell); his four stepchildren; his sister, Barbara Hoffmann; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved daughter and the apple of his eye, Carolee, and his sister, Mary (Jerry) Peterson. Pride in his family was matched only by Bob's love of animals and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed sharing lively conversations about current events and the wins and losses of his favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings. Bob will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and passions but for his warmth and the lasting impact he had on the lives of all who knew him. Bob was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, and his family's gratitude goes out to the staff of the SD VA Hospital - specifically the staff of the Community Living Center who cared for him in his final days when he was no longer able to reside at home. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later time.
