Scott Jurrens

Scott Jurrens, 67, died peacefully at his home in Yankton, SD on Monday October 24, 2022.
Memorial services will be held November 12, 2022 at 10:00 am (with family greeting at 9:00 am) at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, SD with a light lunch and burial to follow. Burial for Scott and his late wife, Marilyn, will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Scott Russell Jurrens was born in Tyndall, SD October 7, 1955 to Russell and Greeta (Dungan) Jurrens. He and his older brother Chris grew up working and playing on a farm outside of Avon, SD where he graduated high school in 1973.
Scott was united in marriage to Marilyn Waters on October 23, 1982. They welcomed their only child, John, in 1984 which is the same year he started the nursing program at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, SD. He spent 30 years as an RN working overnights at different hospitals and clinics in Yankton, Wagner and Scotland.
Scott enjoyed working on his motorcycles, which included restoring his classic 1974 Norton, hunting in his earlier years and going to the gun range with his son. He also had a love for music and enjoyed going to concerts.
His three grandkids gave him a reason to smile and be happy again after becoming a widow unexpectedly in 2014. He participated in anything Macy, Allison and Jack would want him to do, whether it was jumping on trampolines, even going into the foam pit at Air Madness, hiking, giving them shoulder rides or swinging at the park. Scott was looking forward to moving to Sioux Falls to be closer to his family.
Survivors include his son John (Theresa) Jurrens of Sioux Falls, 3 grandchildren, Macy, Allison and Jack; brother Chris Jurrens of Yankton, SD; father-in-law, Robert Drevecky of Watertown, SD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, parents Russell and Greeta and mother in law, Mary Drevecky.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
