Amanda Olson Obituary

Amanda Zentmyer Olson
Born: August 28, 1986 in Aurora, IL
Died: July 20, 2023 in Chicago, IL
Obituary lovingly written by her family
Amanda Zentmyer Olson of Oswego died peacefully at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago on July 20, 2023. She passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was born August 28, 1986 in Aurora, Illinois, the first child of Brad and Michelle (Esposito) Zentmyer. Amanda was a very generous, loving person. She is known for her feisty personality which leads her to being an excellent planner, event organizer, leader, and the person we all went to for advice and guidance. She had a gift for making everything she touched beautiful.
Amanda was united in marriage to Patrick Olson on April 23, 2016, and they established their home in Oswego. Two children were born to Amanda and Patrick: Jack, age 5, and Pepper, age 3. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. She loved taking her kids everywhere with her. She was very active with them, ensuring they were in every sport and dance class they wished to try. She loved bringing them to the zoo, the community pool, to play with friends children, to play at parks, and they especially loved going to the toy isles at Target. Amanda was happiest when she was with her children. Family and friends were a high priority for Amanda. She was an exceptional friend to many, most she has had since grade school.
Amanda's early education was through the Oswego school system, graduating in the Oswego High School class of 2004. She attended Northern Illinois University, earning a bachelor's degree in Political Science. Amanda earned her real estate license and was an active Realtor with EXP Realty at the time of her passing. She also worked at Men's Wearhouse part-time where she loved her coworkers and helping her customers prepare for their special events.
Amanda developed a strong interest in the Oswego community at large. She served on School District 308's Policy Advisory Committee, the Village's Historic Development Committee, and volunteered in various ways. Amanda also co-created a Facebook page with one of her best friends and colleague, Shaunna Barrows, called Oswego - Then and Now.
Amanda was preceded in death by her aunt, Kim Zentmyer, her grandmother, Doris Zentmyer, and her grandfather, Jim Zentmyer.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Patrick Olson, their children, Jack and Pepper Olson, her parents, Michelle and Brad Zentmyer, her sister, Melissa (Luke) Young, her nieces and nephew, Laila, Lucas, and Nina, her grandparents Jim and Ginger Esposito, and Jean Prince, her aunts and uncles, Kristie and John Brendel, Mike and Marg Esposito, Bob and Kathy Zentmyer, David and Gale Zentmyer, and Kelly and Jason Maxwell, her cousins, Pam Zentmyer, Sara (Paul) Copeland, Michael Esposito, James Esposito, Gianna Brendel, and Sylvie and Zane Maxwell.
An education trust fund for Amanda and Patrick's children is being established for those who may want to honor Amanda's memory in this way.
The family will be welcoming friends and family to a celebration of Amanda's life on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Venue 5126 located at 5126 Stephen Rd, Oswego, Illinois from 12:00 to 4:00 pm. All are welcome.
