Born: May 24, 1949; in Dodgeville, WI

Died: October 18, 2018; in Aurora, IL

Burnell R. "Burnie" Brusveen, age 69, of Millbrook, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Presence Mercy Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on May 24, 1949 in Dodgeville, WI the son of Raymond Burnell and Wilhamenia (Winkers) Brusveen.

Burnie was united in marriage on November 21, 1970 to the former Miss Jane Michels and they spent the next 47 happy years together. Mr. Brusveen proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the War in Vietnam. He was formerly employed as a Senior Contract Specialist for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Hines, IL. Mr. Brusveen was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. Burnie was, for many years, a Volunteer Fireman and EMT for the Millbrook Fire Dept. in Millbrook, IL. He was a member of The Sons of Norway, the Newark American Legion Post #459 in Newark, IL and he was at this time the Treasurer of the Norsk Museum in Norway, IL. Burnie will always be remembered as a very kind and helpful friend to everyone he knew. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Burnie is survived by his wife, Jane Brusveen of Millbrook, IL; his children, Dan Brusveen of Plattville, IL, Carin (Brad) Sowers of Oswego, IL and Beth (William) Conley of Sandwich, IL; his grandchildren, Zach Guzman, Jessica, Macey and Max Brusveen, Justin Sowers and Ellie, Vivian and William Conley; his siblings, Verna Hillebrand, Dennis (Susan) Brusveen, Ronald (Sue) Brusveen, Donald Brusveen and Charlotte (Lynn) Holtan all of Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; and his cousin and best friend, Larry Johnson of Millbrook, IL. He is also survived by his canine companion, Skip and his cat, Spooky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Leo and Mary Michels; and his son-in-law, Mark W. Knoebel.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 North Center Avenue in Plano, IL with Father Gabriel Cillo, M.I.C., officiating. Entombment will be held in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside, IL.

Friends may visit from 1:00 until 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street in Yorkville, IL.
