Donna Mae Fandrey
Donna Mae (Krusel) Fandrey
Donna Mae (Krusel) Fandrey of Oswego, IL, passed on Feb. 6, 2021, due to complications from a stroke. She was 91 years old. Donna is survived by: her two daughters, Melanie C. Hansen and Lynn A. Everette; her grandson, Scott A. Hansen; her adoptive granddaughter, Joanna Everette; her son-in-law of the heart, Jay Sternickle (Melanie's life partner); her step-granddaughter of the heart, Columbia Trout(Jay's daughter); and her ex son-in-law, Ken Hansen. She was truly loved, and she loved her family dearly. Donna lived with Melanie, Jay, and Scott right up to the moment of her stroke, two days before she passed.
Donna was probably best known, locally, as the founder/leader of a senior performance troupe known as Donna's Dollies, the leader of the Dandy Lion Chapter of the Red Hats, and a member of the Oswego Library Board. A very accomplished woman, Donna was truly a gifted musician, performer, and teacher. During her high school and college years, she was piano soloist in the All-Girl Piano Symphony at Orchestra Hall(Chicago) for six years and was President of Northwestern University's chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon (a professional music sorority). She was a classroom teacher in public schools for 28 years (Glen Ellyn and Woodridge, IL), and a private music teacher at home (piano, voice, and organ) for 57 years. Donna graduated from Downers Grove North High School and then went on to receive her Bachelor's and Master's of Music degrees from Northwestern University.
Donna was a loving, gifted, and generous woman with a zest for life. She is greatly missed! Cards of condolence may be sent to Melanie Hansen at 204 Coyote Court, Oswego, IL, 60543, and private music students of Donna's are encouraged to contact Melanie to receive some of her sheet music.
