Dorothy Ann Aspacher
Born: February 16, 1931
Died: June 12, 2021
Dorothy Ann Aspacher, 90, passed away peacefully with her loving daughter Lisa holding her hand on June 12, 2021. She was born to Walter and Vera Samson on February 16, 1931 where she was raised on a farm in Pemberville, OH with her sister Donna (Richard) Farley who preceded her in death. Dorothy spoke often and fondly about her young years growing up on a farm in the depression years. The church was always of prime importance to her growing up, often described as "home". She wrote for her yearbook and was a cheerleader in high school. She went on to marry and raise four children.
Dorothy was very involved with her church and community throughout her life. As a young adult she was involved in Luther league. She taught catechism and Sunday school for many years. She was a very proud PEO sister in Michigan and Illinois, and a member of the League of Women voters. She always had a passion about education, was an avid reader and guided her children towards higher education, something her children will always be grateful for. Dorothy worked as a bank teller in Michigan and then Illinois after she moved to be near her daughter. She spoke often about the joy she received out of simple connections with people she interacted with at the bank. In her later years Dorothy spent some very happy, working, independent years in Oak Park, IL visiting her sons often on the East Coast and San Francisco. She was connected to nature and was known as "the walker". When she would visit the west coast, she would insist on driving out to the ocean during big storms coming in from the Pacific. She was a history buff and loved to connect authentically with just about anyone. Her infectious laugh will be missed. Her family is saddened by her loss but grateful her suffering is over, is at peace and can reconnect with those loved and passed.
Her remains will be laid to rest in a cemetery plot with her parents in Pemberville, OH. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Adrian, MI. She is survived by her 4 children, Jeff Aspacher (Paula), of Adrian, MI, Gregg Aspacher of Corte Madera, CA, Derek Aspacher of San Francisco, CA and Lisa (Ray) Pearson of Oswego, IL. She was a loving grandmother to Valerie (Jared) Berry of Houston, TX, Garrett Aspacher of Denver, CO, Caleb Pearson, Grace Pearson, and Noah Pearson of Oswego, IL.
