Louise Christian
Louise M. Christian, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend departed this life on November 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on March 29, 1937, in Aurora, Illinois, Louise was a lifelong resident of her hometown, where she touched the lives of so many with her unwavering love, kindness, and culinary talents.
Louise was the daughter of Herbert M. Norris and Grace Mae Rance, and she grew up in a nurturing household that instilled in her a love for learning. She pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education, and dedicated her life to teaching, inspiring countless students throughout her career. Her commitment to education exemplified her belief in the value of knowledge and the importance of nurturing the next generation.
Louise held a special place in her heart for her community, serving as a member of the Wheatland Scotch Church in Oswego, Illinois. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her relationships. She found joy in giving back and being actively involved in her church family.
As a devoted mother, Louise is survived by her four children: Laura (Jeff) Benson of Martin, Tennessee; Brian (Rhonda) Arnold of Seneca, Illinois; Craig (Christie) Arnold of Dimmitt, Texas; and Matthew (Carrie) Arnold of Grafton, Ohio. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Catherine Hosler, Mike Hosler, Jennifer (Michael) Eichorst, Tyler (Victoria) Arnold, Christopher (Kelsey) Arnold, Nicole (Logan) Rasmussen, Jeremy (Jessica) Messer, and Noah Benson. Louise was also a proud great-grandmother to Emma Eichorst, Ben Eichorst, Gracie Arnold, Chase Arnold, Autumn Arnold, and Patrick Arnold, who brought her endless joy and happiness.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jon, and Charles Arnold, the father of her children and a grandson Ryan Benson. She held deep affection for her family, and her brother, Herbert (Sally) Norris of Wisconsin, and sister Marsha (Robert) Gabel of Wisconsin remains a testament to her enduring familial bonds.
A true lover of nature, Louise found peace and fulfillment in her garden, which she tended to every morning before her children awoke. Known for her green thumb, she cultivated a bountiful harvest of peas, sweet corn, carrots, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a large strawberry patch. Her garden not only nourished her family but also inspired her culinary creations. Louise had a knack for cooking from scratch, and she was particularly famous for her chicken and dressing. Her desserts, including coconut angel squares and mandarin orange salad, were so delightful that they were featured in the local newspaper.
In addition to her love for gardening and cooking, Louise enjoyed painting, finding another medium through which she could express her creativity and passion for beauty in the world around her.
Louise was a beacon of love, generosity, and joy. Her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She taught us the importance of family, the joy of sharing, and the beauty found in both nature and kindness. May she rest in peace, knowing she has left an indelible mark on all who loved her.
