Michael John Kandler, age 73 of Yorkville, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his home on Friday, April 11, 2025. He was born on July 27, 1951 in Chicago, IL the son of Edwin and Rita (Daiminger) Kandler.
Mr. Kandler was united in marriage in 1975 to Lucille Chambers and they spent the next 50 years happily together. They moved to Columbus, OH and began their family. He went on to become an engineer for ATT and continued working in wireless technology until retirement in 2018. Michael was a long time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. Michael succumbed to the effects of Fragile X Ataxia Syndrome after a long battle. Michael will be remembered for his love of his children. He enjoyed watching sports with his son, going to the theater with his oldest daughter, and shopping with his youngest daughter. He was also holding out hope for another Super Bowl win for his beloved Chicago Bears. He enjoyed riding his bicycle in his free time. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lucille Kandler of Yorkville, IL; his children, Amanda Zangrilli of Chicago, IL, Timothy (Rachel) Kandler of Hinckley, IL, and Sarah (Phillip "PJ") Schinkoeth of Yorkville, IL; his grandchildren, Charlotte and Meadow Zangrilli, and Evelyn, Matthew and Kayleigh Kandler; his sister-in-law, Betty Kandler; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Rita Kandler; as well as his brother, Richard Kandler.
A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will be held in Minnesota at a later date.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.
