Ruth Margaret Johanna Renate Dearborn
Born: July 17, 1927
Died: July 26, 2021
Ruth Margaret Johanna Renate Dearborn, age 94, of Oak Brook, IL passed away Monday, July 26, 2021. She was born July 17, 1927, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Heinrich and Helen Schwerdtmann.
Ruth exemplified so many admirable traits - loyalty, resiliency, reliability, attention to detail and kindness to strangers. Her time as a girl in Germany during the war shaped her outlook forever. Even in difficult times in the US, working single mother and all, she had a great outlook on life. Ruth was known for her impeccable taste and fashion sense, often referring to herself as a "classy broad." She found a second home at ITW for 22 years. Ruth didn't let retirement end that relationship as she continued working with their ITW Retiree Outreach Committee for many years thereafter. Ruth volunteered with Travelers Aid at O'Hare Airport for over 20 years, the longest serving volunteer to date. She was a pillar of the Chicago Art Deco Society from its earliest days, playing a key role in helping it survive and thrive. Affectionately known as Marlene "Dietrich". Somehow, she found time to travel, domestically and internationally. She made sure to instill that love in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We often joked that our family motto was "Have passport, will travel!" She loved living in her Oak Brook Towers condominium with the Chicago City skyline view. A special thanks to Dr. MV Sinno, not only her cardiologist, but a cherished friend. Ruth will forever be missed by her family, but she would want all of you to remember to "Stay well and safe."
Loving Mother of Annette Dearborn, Robert (Debra) Dearborn, and the late Terry (Wendy) Dearborn; grandmother of Derek (Jacqueline), Justin (Angela), and Travis Dearborn, and Christina (Fred) Bracero; great-grandmother of Mason, Madison, Olivia, Sophia, and Faith Dearborn, and Jasmine Bracero.
