Santos H. Martinez Sr., age 88, of Morris, IL passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. He was born on November 3, 1935 in Arshington, TX the son of Jose Abel and Josephina (Herrera) Martinez.
Santos was united in marriage on November 8, 1959 to the former Armandina Ramierz and they spent the next 65 years happily together. Santos was a deacon for many years at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano, IL and well known in the community. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Armandina Martinez of Morris, IL; his children, Santos Martinez Jr. of Morris, IL, Mary Elizabeth Herrera of Florida, Jose Angel Martinez of Morris, Jose Abel (Barbara) Martinez of Leland, IL, Jose Tony (Carmen) Martinez of Sandwich, IL, and Jose Alberto Martinez of Morris, IL; his 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his brother, Johnny Joe Martinez of Texas; his sisters, Janie Martinez, Mary (Junior) Guzman, and Rose Cantu, all of Texas; as well as his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Abel and Josephina Martinez; his sisters, Mandy and Maria; and his brother, David.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 29, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 N. Center Ave., Plano, IL. Interment will be private.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 N. Center Ave., Plano, IL.
