Bette Bosanko Obituary

Bette D. Bosanko

"Chief-BBFD"

1923 - 2015

Bette D. Bosanko, 91, joined her Savior on May 22, 2015. Heavens welcoming committee included her husband Robert, son Roger, grandson Jean Paul, daughter-in-law Laurie, a zillion Doll relatives and a couple of Hoffman relatives. Bette is survived by sons, David H. (Sally), Richard A. (Maggie), Robert J. (Kat), Philip G. (Kim); daughter-in-law Margaret and son-in-law Dennis OHair; and adopted son Ben Douglas. Her grandchildren are Dean (Gina) Bosanko, Steven Bosanko, Lizz Bosanko, Angela Stewart, Jennifer Salmonsen. She held a special place in her heart for great grandson Jordan Bosanko.

Bette was born to Henry and Elizabeth Doll on July 18, 1923, passing away at the age of 91 (she would have been 93, but was sick for two years as a child.) A lifelong resident of West Allis and Holy Assumption Congregation, she recently moved to Kenosha to be nearer her family. But she remained a "West Allis gal" at heart. Bettes favorite saying was "next to Jesus, my best friend is Jack Daniels." She enjoyed a rather unique experience in that four of her sons and her nephew Steven were career firefighters (Racine, Kenosha, Wauwatosa, USAF, South Shore). Her rank was "Chief Bette-Bosanko Brigade Fire Department," and her car license plate proudly read: CF-BBFD.

Family and friends are invited to a "Celebration of Life" for Bette. Services will be Monday, June 15, 2015, at Holy Assumption Church, 7107 W. Orchard Street, West Allis. Visitation will be 4 p.m. with the Mass following at 5 p.m. The celebration will continue at moms favorite "watering hole," Bennos, 7413 W. Greenfield Avenue, West Allis, 6 p.m. til ?

In her final act of generosity, Bette donated her body to the Medical College of Wisconsin for research. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory may do so with their favorite charity, or one of hers listed here:

Dear Bosanko Family:
I was so sad to have read of Mrs. Bosanko's passing. I knew her well from my years of working at the West Allis Public Library. She was always smiling, friendly, and gracious. Needless to say, she was very proud of her "fire brigade". My deepest sympathy and prayers to all of you.

Dear Dave, Rich, Rob, and Phil,

Your mom was such a good person and always fun to be around. Nobody could sing "Rock A Bye My Baby with a Dixie Melody" like her! She made all the Bosanko/Gregory parties just light up, and we all know how proud she was of all of you. See you Monday.
