Dennis Tait Obituary

Dennis Tait, 73, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 31, 2025.

He was born on June 21, 1952, to the late Daniel Tait and Mildred (Hunt) Olson. He was educated in Kenosha schools (Lance Jr. High School and Tremper High School) and went on to the UW Parkside Campus, acquiring a 4-year degree in Labor Economics.

For most of his life, he worked for Rustoleum Corporation at their Pleasant Prairie, Wisc. location. He enjoyed his co-workers there and was very satisfied that it allowed him to pay off his home and build a retirement nest egg.

Dennis was married for many years to Sheila Peyton of Racine and Kenosha, whom he greatly missed after her death on December 11, 2019.

Dennis enjoyed bowling and golfing for much of his life and was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Packers, Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks. He enjoyed attending games with friends on various occasions. He also enjoyed swimming and exercise classes at the YMCA and the friends he met there.

Dennis is survived by his brother, David Tait of San Francisco, Calif. (now retired at age 71). He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Olson (nicknamed Toots) and older brothers, Patrick Tait and Morris (Ray) Woodward.

Because no relatives remain in or near Kenosha, he decided some time back to forego funeral services. Please contact David Tait with any questions (415-602-1901 or [email protected]). Donations can be made in his name to the Kenosha YMCA or the Kenosha Public Library.

Just saw Denny at Royal Scot a few weeks ago. Ever faithful with the small things. Denny made the least and saved the most. Details mattered. VH called you the Rain Man because you knew all the part numbers. You were part of the Rust-O family of characters.
