Dorothy Nevala Obituary

Dorothy M. Nevala

1941 – 2024

KENOSHA - Dorothy M. Nevala, 82 years old, of Kenosha, WI, full of love and joy, was welcomed home, as an angel, to God, while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 8, 2024, at her home.

She was born August 13, 1941, in Ironwood, MI, the daughter of the late Virgil and Mary (Giacomino) Zanella. She married Ronald Nevala on April 8, 1961, in Hurley, WI.

Dorothy brought immeasurable love into our lives with her kind heart and generous spirit. She enjoyed life most when she was surrounded by her family, and she truly was when she took her last breath. She was very active in worrying if we all had enough to eat. She was a full-time mom and then worked at Chrysler Motors. She belonged to a bowling team, loved to travel and go on cruises, going to concerts, especially to watch her son perform in his band, loved all church and Summerfest festivals. She loved reading, scrapbooking and cooking and saving recipes up until she was visually impaired, but she never stopped listening to the cooking channel. She was most active in carrying her phone in one hand, waiting to always chat with her family, and in her other hand she always had her wallet full of bills to tip anyone and give money to anyone on the streets.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Nevala; children: Bryan (Tricia) Nevala, Sharon (Randy) Kavalauskas, Michael (Ariel) Nevala, Sue Nevala, Sandy (Eric) Juopperi, and Tom (Gale) Nevala; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; siblings. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Worby, and her grandsons: Daniel Nevala and Bronson Anderson and her brother, Peter Zanella.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence at 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Somers, WI.

Growing up as her neighbor down the street, I remember Mrs. Nevala (as I knew her) as being always so nice. She also came to mother´s wake and it exemplified her kindness. Deepest condolences to her loved ones.

I met Dorothy over 50 years ago. We had just moved to Kenosha and rented an apt in a complex where the Nevala Family also lived. Dorothy was the kindest soul. We lost touch over the decades but I never forgot her and her generous spirit. May she rest in Christ's peace.
