George Pruyn Obituary
September 16, 1940 - March 13, 2025
George W. Pruyn, 84, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville.
He was born on September 16, 1940, to the late Frank and Virginia (Sage) Pruyn, in Chicago, Ill. He was educated in the schools of Chicago and received his BS in Political Science from Loyola University.
On November 16, 1968, he married Jill I. Zderadicka in Edison Park, Ill.
George worked for the US Defense for five years and then for 30 years as a Property Manager for US Housing.
George loved being on Lake Michigan, being in the outdoors, walking trails, boating, taking trips to fairs, enjoyed golfing, traveling all over the country and family reunions. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
George is survived by his loving wife, Jill; his son, David Erik Pruyn; his grandchildren, Thomas James McGeary III, Charles William McGeary, Maura Kelly Pruyn and Kadence Grace Pruyn; and his siblings, Diana (Christian) Pruyn Henning, Michael (Cathy) Pruyn, James (Monica) Pruyn and Timothy (Mary) Pruyn.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Michelle Lynn Pruyn McGeary and her husband, Thomas McGeary, and Kirstin Marie Pruyn; and a daughter-in-law, Shannon Marie Pruyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial for George will be held on Friday, March 21st, at 12 p.m (noon), at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (2223 – 51st St.). Interment will follow at St. Casimir's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning, from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Memorials would be appreciated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
