Manfred Markham Obituary

Manfred "Manny" Markham

February 7, 1947 - November 8, 2025

Manfred "Manny" Markham, 78, of Kenosha passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Kenosha Place Memory Care.

He was born on February 7, 1947 to the late Lorne and Andre Markham in Paris, France. Manny attended high school in South Milwaukee and went on to play college football at Iowa State University and UW Oshkosh where he finished his bachelors degree. He later went on to obtain his Masters degree in education.

On January 17, 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryle, at St. John's Catholic Church in South Milwaukee.

Manny started his teaching career at Mary D. Bradford High School where he first coached football and then became the head wrestling coach. He was WIAA coach of the year in 1987. In 1990, he started teaching at Whittier Elementary. He loved working with the younger kids and worked in elementary schools until retirement in 2004.

Manny achieved his ultimate dream of building a home up north in Mercer, WI. He loved entertaining family and friends and hosting his hunting and fishing buddies. He enjoyed anything outdoors and watching the Packers and Wisconsin football teams. Manny was a family man who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, especially teaching them to fish and swim.

Manny is survived by his wife, Cheryle, of 55 years; his daughters: Kerri (Doug) Hozeska, Sara (Dan) Torresin, and Kristin (Alan) Wessel; his grandchildren: Maria, Kylie, Grace (Andrei), Frank, Phoebe, Cooper, Deacon, Danny, Margot, Gavin, Madison, and Stevie; and his siblings: Gerard (Janice) Markham, Richard (JoAnn) Markham, and Marie Therese (Cliff) Hershman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at the Bruch Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22nd with visitation from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM (noon), and service to follow at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mr. Markham was my P.E teacher at Bradford. I will never forget him asking who could swim and who couldn´t. I was the only student that couldn´t swim. By the end of the semester I could swim due to his patience and kindness in showing me how.
One of my favorite teachers.
My sincere condolences to his family.

I knew Mr Markham at Bradford. He knew we are dairy farmers and we talked numerous times about cows. He even knew where our farms were. He was an excellent guy. Liked him alot. My condolences to his family. He will be missed.
