KENOSHA, WI - Richard L. Sleyster, Sr. 75 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Saturday July 10, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family. Dick was born January 1, 1946, in Evanston, IL the son of the late Richard Q. and Katherine M. Sleyster. Since the age of 8, he was raised in Russell, IL by his late uncle and aunt, Raymon and Helen Birky along with his cousins Bob (Rosanna) Birky and Betty (Loren) Streid who survive him. Dick attended Zion-Benton High School, Class of 1963. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in December of 1965, proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in December of 1967. Dick married Janet (nee Balmes) on July 11, 1970. They were blessed with three sons: Richard, Jr., David (Jennifer) and granddaughter Kayleigh, Darin (Kristina) and grandson, Breccan. Dick worked as a journeyman electrician for thirty years with IBEW Local 150. In his retirement, Dick restored antique scooters and wagons but his favorite pastime was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Memorial Services will be held 12 Noon Saturday August 7, 2021, at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH 1055 Main St. (Rte 83) Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 9AM. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch, IL. Donations to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or Toys for Tots 3034 W. Dickie and I went thru the apprenticeship at the same time , got to work with him his last couple years before he retired . Fun guy to work with , carried an aluminum lunch bucket from the forties I think . Meticulous wireman , always had a duster brush in the front pocket of his bibs . RIP Brother
