Ronald Goergen.Sr. Obituary

Ronald Melborn Goergen, Sr.

1932 - 2018

Ronald M. Goergen, Sr. 85, died at his residence on March 3, 2018 with his family at his side. He was a two time triple by-pass (heart) survivor who fought courageously but at the end he looked forward to being reunited with his wife Elaine and happy to be with his Lord and Savior.

Ron was born in Kenosha, Wis., on Oct. 1, 1932, to John and LaVera Goergen. He attended local schools and Gateway Technical College where he received his GED. He married Elaine Ruth Huck on May 26, 1951, celebrating over 64 years together.

Ron was a dairy farm hand before joining the Army in 1953. He completed boot camp at Camp Chaffee, AK before going overseas to New Ulm, Germany. His rate was a Truck Vehicle Mechanic and always had a joke to tell anyone who would listen. After being honorably discharged in May 1955, he worked at different garages as a head mechanic. In 1962 he received his big break when the CEO from American Motors stopped in driving a new prototype car. Ron could hear there was problem with the engine and asked if he could fix it. He stayed at work all night and had the vehicle running correctly in the morning when the CEO returned; on that day he was hired to work at the AMC Proving Grounds as a car test driver. Unfortunately he had to medically retire in November 1972. In 1973 he started with Schmidt Security, first at the Kenosha Harbor and then at Snap On Tools until he retired again in 1990.

Ronald M Goergen, Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine in February 2016. He is survived by their five children, Ronald (Linda) Goergen, Jr., Gail Benton, Bonnie (Daniel) Garcia, Rick (Gwen) Goergen and Betty (Lionel) Marble. He is further survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Joy Hudson and his brothers, John and William Goergen. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Nelson and his brother, Vernon Goergen.Ronald and his family wanted to express their deep appreciation to Ally Home and Hospice for the compassionate care given to him.

Funeral Services will be celebrated on March 9, at 12 noon at St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha, (2001-80th Avenue). Visitation will be held at St. Mary's Lutheran Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Ally Home and Hospice (VA) would be greatly appreciated.
