Ronald J. Karakash

1937 - 2015

Ronald J. Karakash, 78, of Kenosha passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.

He was born on April 10, 1937, in Chisholm, Minn., the son of the late Stephen and Ann (Stanich) Karakash. Ronald married Darlene Ranta on Jan. 6, 1963, in Chisholm, Minn. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from August 1955 – August 1959, in Alaska & Colorado. He was educated in the schools of Minnesota, earning a bachelor's degree in biology cum laude from the University of Minnesota- Duluth, & a master's degree in education from U.W. Milwaukee. Ronald taught Biology at Bradford High School for 35 years, along with bartending at Kenosha Yacht Club and Charter fishing on Lake Michigan for Revere Electric. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, traveling, golfing, sports, and he was an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs and Blackhawk fan.

Ronald is survived by three children, Kimberly (David) Dummer of Pleasant Prairie, Katherine Karakash of Milwaukee, Ronald (Patricia) Karakash of Pleasant Prairie, three grandchildren, Jesse Karakash, David Ronald Dummer, and Emma Rose Dummer, a brother Stephen (Vera) Karakash of Bellevue, Washington, a sister Rosemary (Stanley) Grillo of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and many nephews and nieces, his faithful K9 companion, Lexie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Darlene on Dec. 25, 2014.

The family would like to thank Dr. B. Pulla and Dr. G. Pulla, Hospice Alliance, Sheridan Medical Complex, and Froedtert Dialysis & Transplant Center.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at Kenosha Funeral Services from 4-6 p.m. with Military Honors and memorial services to follow at 6 p.m.
