1939 - 2013
Sandra Kaye Fliris, 74, entered eternal life on Sept. 28, 2013, at Saint Catherines Hospital East Chicago, Ind.
Sandra was born on Aug. 21, 1939, in Carbondale/Murphysboro, Ill., to George Beasley and Cecile LaForte. She attended Fenger High School in Chicago, Ill. In 1955, she married John Fliris in Carbondale/Murphysboro, Ill. She was a dedicated employee of 36 years as a Security/Emergency Dispatcher at LTV Steel/ArcelorMittal, Indiana Harbor West. Sandra was a member of Local 1011 Euclid Ave East Chicago, Ind.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to the gambling boats and traveling to Wisconsin to visit with other family members and friends. She was charitable with United Way.
She left behind a legacy of five children, John Michael (Cindy) Fliris, Jeanette Mishelle (Mike) Pudelek, Jeff Mitchel (Gaylyn) Fliris, Jacqueline Marcell (Ronald) Reid, Jamie Marie (John) Warosh; 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her loving brother, George LaForte; half brothers and sisters; her Aunt Mae and Uncle Bill; many nephews; nieces; cousins and friends. As well as her best friends Pat and Bob Westfall, also wonderful neighbors who always cared for and watched over her; devoted caregiver/angel, Elizabeth who not only cared for her but loved her very deeply.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Fliris; mother, Cecile LaForte; life father, George LaForte; father, George Beasley; grandchild, Ronald Reid, Jr.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Public Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., prayer service at 7:30 p.m. by Pastor Ryan McDowell (Hobart Assembly of God)
A private service for family members only will be held from 12 Noon - 2 p.m. at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home (14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN. 46375) Memorial donations to American Heart Association (http://donate.americanheart.org)
The family would like to thank all of the people, groups, or institutions that always helped take care of her through her life journey.
