The moment we heard Sergio might be in trouble, Joe flew out the next day to be with him, and I was scheduled to arrive Wednesday 6/9. I was one day too late. I wanted one last chance to tell him everything he meant to me as my only experience having a Father-in-Law, but the two words I wanted to say most, are thank you. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into your family from the moment we met. Thank you for always being so kind, and always loving without judgement or conditions. Thank you for making all of our many experiences together so joyfully unforgettable, and giving me a reason to look forward to every single one of them. Thank you for always making us laugh, and for your willingness to be ridiculous because you took such pleasure in entertaining us. Thank you for all of our private talks, and trusting me enough to confide in. But more than anything else, thank you for being the example for your son about what it means to be a stand up man, who puts his family before all else, and will do anything it takes to ensure we are safe and provided for. I am thankful every day for having a husband like Joe, and I thank you every day for your role in allowing me to have a man of that caliber. I will miss you forever Sergio. -Sara (or Say-ra, as you always pronounced it with that Italian accent)
