1922 - 2021
Tony Salituro, 98, of Kenosha, passed away Tuesday afternoon July 20, 2021, at his home.
Born in Archavacata, Italy on November 16, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank and Angela (Pincente) Salituro.
Tony enrolled in the United States Army, serving in the Asian/Pacific Theater in the Philippines and later Japan in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. On February 8, 1947, he married the late Delores Alfano at Our Lady of The Holy Rosary of Pompeii Catholic Church in Kenosha. Tony went on to work for Chrysler Automotive for 38 years until he retired in 1982. He loved golfing, gardening, drinking wine, and making traditional Italian foods. Tony was a member of the Italian American Club, several bocce and golf clubs, and was a proud purveyor of Italian customs. He lived every day to its fullest, was the world's best grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be remembered for his charismatic personality.
Tony is survived by his children, Stephen (Beverly), Sharon, Stuart (Kimberly), Scott (Ron); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; his companion of 20+ years, Lucy Greene; and his faithful cat, Bubbaluke.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tony was preceded by his siblings, Rose Cacciatore, John Saliture, Carmella Cosenza, Eugene Novelli; his daughters, Sandra Torgerson, Sueann Darre/Adams; and grandson, Jay Torgerson.
Visitation will take place Monday, July 26, 2021, at Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., with a service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery with full military honors.
