Anna Hollin Obituary

LOUISVILLE - Anna Edwards Triplett Hollin, 95, of Prospect, KY, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on June 12, 2012. Anna was born on April 20, 1917 in Corbin, KY, daughter of the late Dr. B.J. Edwards and Mary J. Turpin Edwards. She received her Bachelor degree from Eastern KY University and her Masters in Home Economics from the University of Tennessee. After relocating to Prospect, Anna served as City Commissioner of River Bluff for 17 years and is honored each year by the City of River Bluff on her birthday, with signs proclaiming "Anna Hollin Day." Anna was an Emeritus Board Member of Christmount Christian Assembly, a Disciples of Christ church camp in Black Mountain, NC and a faithful member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since moving to Louisville in the early 60's. Anna was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Dr. Henry H. Triplett; their daughter, Maryann L'Hote and her husband, Leland L'Hote; sister, Mary T. Wright; her twin sister, Virginia Cerf; and a nephew, Dr. F. Ben Wright III. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Jack Hollin, daughter, Janet Appel (Marty), Oakland, CA; son, Dr. Henry "Hank" Triplett, Jr. (Ann), Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Lisa Kay Nichols (Chris), Normal, IL, Dr. Lee L'Hote, Chicago, IL, Louis L'Hote, Peoria, IL, Eric Appel (Jennifer), Emeryville, CA, Lt. Colonel Henry H. "Tres" Triplett III (Dr. Casey Dutton-Triplett), stationed in Turkey; eight great grandchildren, Andrew John "A.J", Kiel and Mellisa Turpin, Riley and Alyx Nichols, Henry H. "Hall" Triplett IV, Annabella and Ava Triplett; a host of nieces and nephews who dearly loved their "Aunt Anna", sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and her dear friends, Lynn Grossman and Yolanda Davis. Anna was selfless in her actions, words and deeds and enjoyed helping people to improve their lives. Her daughter, Janet says it best in her blog "Anna is known for good works...." Anna loved having people around her and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word scrambles. Her friends and neighbors were an important part of her daily life. Anna enjoyed attending University of Kentucky basketball games and tailgating at football games with her husband, Jack and their family and friends. She had a special place to watch the games in Commonwealth Stadium and attended UK football games up until her death. A celebration of Anna's life will be held on Mon, July 9 at 11:30am, First Christian Church, Louisville, KY, officiated by the Rev. Brian Gerard, with visitation from 10:30-11:30am in the sanctuary. Immediately following the service, there will be a final tailgate party for Anna Hollin in Fellowship Hall. Friends and family are invited to join the celebration. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to First Christian Church, 7700 U.S. Hwy 42, Louisville, KY 40241 or Christmount Christian Assembly, 222 Fern Way, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
