I'm so sad to hear of Bettie's passing. She was my cousin and an amazing lady. I remember visiting her when her mother was still alive and later before I moved away. We exchanged letters and Christmas cards until she was no longer able to write. She was such an interesting and energetic woman. She shared family history with me and I learned so much from her. She will truly be missed.

A dear matriarch of our family passed away yesterday morning at age 91, my Dad's sweet cousin, Bettie Tuttle. She was only 5' tall, a retired school teacher, born and lived in Lexington, KY all of her life. She traveled extensively. Bettie never married but dedicated her life honoring our family's Civil War Heroes by representing and attending their dedications and grave ceremonies across the south. Bettie kept a perfect journal with pictures of our relatives, gravesites, the dedication ceremony and literature. A treasure for me to pass on to my daughter one day. I really enjoyed when Bettie shared the family history with me in her cute Kentucky twain. Our family last spoke with Bettie on Christmas Day. She sounded strong and so happy to hear from all of us, especially, Dad, they were very close We were the end of her story, last living descendants, the journal is almost complete. To be Bettie's cousin, friend or student you always found her to be kind, happy to see you and she always made you feel loved. God bless her soul, may peace carry her to the stairway to Heaven. Love you Cousin Bettie❤

Bettie was my cousin through Eliza Jane Tuttle Epperson. She was always so full of energy and loved living life to the fullest as long as she could. She shared a lot of our family history with me and I loved hearing about her trips. We kept in touch by mail and Christmas Cards. I will certainly miss her. She was a joy to know.
