Bobby Kidd Obituary

LONDON - Bobby Jack Kidd, 72, passed away Sat, March 15, 2008. Born in Booneville, KY, he was the son of Jack Kidd and Helen Campbell Kidd. He graduated from Powell County High School, Berea College and the University of Louisville Medical School. Upon graduation and completion of his residency, he practiced rural medicine in Brownsville, KY for 2 years. He enlisted in the Navy, was stationed at Camp Pendelton, CA, for a year and served as a Naval physician with a Marine detachment in Chulai, Vietnam. He achieved the rank of Lt. Commander and received a Commendation Medal from the Navy for his military service. After honorable discharge from the Navy, he moved to Louisville, KY, Jefferson County, where he established private practice with offices on Story Avenue and in Middletown, KY. During this time, he resided in Anchorage, KY, and was a former member of the Owl Creek Country Club. He was Board Certified in Family Practice, received a fellowship in Cardiology at Johns Hopkins University, was a member of the Jefferson County Medical Association and the American Medical Association. In 1993, he moved to Barbourville, KY, and later to London, KY, where he practiced medicine in Laurel and surrounding counties with Dr.'s Talmadage Hayes, W.E. Becknel and Robert Hoskins, as well as at the Parkway Clinic, Tri-State Occupational Medicine and Southeast Family Practice. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Jay Kidd. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Wellinghurst; son-in-law, Tony Wellinghurst; grand-daughter, Abigail Wellinghurst; and sisters Peggy Sue Staley and Anna Dale Kidd. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Wed, March 19, 2008 with services at 7pm at the House & Rawlings Funeral Home in London, KY. www.houserawlings.com
