Cameron Reed Obituary

REED Cameron Meagan (Cammie), left us on Oct 7, 2016 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. She was born in New Bern, North Carolina on Feb 11, 1980. While living in Winston-Salem, NC, she attended Summit School and Salem Academy. After graduating from Sayre School in Lexington, KY, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language and Economics at the University of Kentucky, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Cammie studied violin, piano, dance, gymnastics and diving. At age 11, she was part of the pre-professional ballet program of the North Carolina School of the Arts, and sang in the children's chorus of Piedmont Opera. When her Sayre School classmate and friend Amanda Ross died, Cammie was compelled to start a fund at their alma mater to be used for an annual class to educate students on ways to avoid and ultimately eliminate domestic abuse and dating violence. Cammie is survived by the following people, who will each always love her dearly: her daughter, Samantha Scott; her parents, Dr. James and Sharon Reed; her brothers: James Reed, II (Elizabeth); Dr. Peter Reed (Dr. Jennifer Carson); and Brent Reed (Dr. Rebecca Redman). She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, as well as her fianc‚e, Gabriel Garcia-Sanchez of Ensenada, Mexico and Samantha's father Arnold Scott, Jr. She was preceded in death by her Grandparents: James Cronk, William and Evelyn Aston, and Seldon and Helen Reed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that your respects be paid with a donation to the Sayre School to a designated Reed-Ross Fund. Your donation may be sent to: Sayre School, 194 North Limestone, Lexington, KY 40507. Cammie was a loving mother and a friend to many in need. She was a smart, talented and beautiful person, who will always be missed and loved. There will be no visitation. After a memorial service for family, invited guests and close friends, she will rest in eternal peace in the beautiful Lexington Cemetery.

I'm just now learning of Cammie's passing. Cammie was a childhood friend of mine and I thought about her whenever I passed her house in Winston-Salem and other random moments. I still remember our sleepovers there. She was a sweet friend and I'm sorry to her family that you've lost her.
