Capp Turner Obituary

Capp Edward Turner, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, passed away September 21, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on January 17, 1932, in Miami, Florida, the son of Marie and Frank Radigan.

Capp was married to his beloved wife, Kay Carol Turner, on December 15, 1956. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Turner Fletcher and her partner Michael, and Karla Turner Tenberge; his grandsons, Kory Lee Turner and his wife Katie, and Cary Edward Miller; step-grandson Nathan Fletcher; his nieces Heather Murray-Abbott, Odile Sullivan, Carole Shorten, Sharon Hildebrand, and Kathi Howard; and great granddaughter Zeyejah Way.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky in 1954 with a bachelor's degree, Capp proudly served as Captain of the Pershing Rifles Drill Team and was a member of several honor societies, including Omicron Delta Kappa. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956, attaining the rank of Captain, and continued his service in the U.S. Air Force Reserve until 1962.

Professionally, Capp began his career at Square D Company in Lexington as a Personnel Assistant before joining Universal Fasteners in Lawrenceburg, where he served as Vice President of Personnel and Purchasing for 31 years until his retirement in 1996.

Deeply involved in his community, Capp was an active member of numerous organizations. He served with the Lexington Blue Grass Personnel Association, the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club where he achieved 54 years of perfect attendance, and the American Legion Post 34, where he devoted 29 years as Horse Show Ringmaster. He was also active in the Anderson Community Theater for 15 years, a Lawrenceburg City Council Member for 8 years, and a proud Kentucky Colonel, serving as President.

Capp also held a lifelong passion for horses. He was Florida's American Saddlebred Equitation Champion for five years and was the owner of a National Paso Fino Champion Performance Colt.

A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Lawrenceburg Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., in accordance with the wishes of his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anderson Humane Society, P.O. Box 494, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and country, as well as his lifelong love of horses and anyone who would listen to his stories regarding horses.

Heather, I’m sorry for your loss. Your uncle sounds like a wonderful person and I’m certain his life was enriched by your presence in it. I loved what you wrote about him on your post. Love to you and your family.

Mr Turner was the one who hired me back in 1971. Sorry to hear of his passing. A well respected man and classic life he lived. RIP
