Chester Turner Obituary

"Man of God" TURNER Chester, born August 28, 1934, in Perry County, KY, went to the with the Lord on September 8, 2014. This is what he cherished, knowing that he would someday walk on the Streets of Gold. He was preceded in death by his son, Chester Glenn Turner, Jr.; his grandson, Charles Wayne Stewart, Jr.; his foster son, Kenneth Ray Byrd; his nephew, Jerry Marshall Turner; his parents, Joel and Rachael McIntosh Turner; his brothers, Eugene and Lester Turner; and his sisters, Fannie Johnson and Alice Salyer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Kilburn Turner; his daughter, Elizabeth (Charles) Stewart; his son, David Wayne (Kimberley) Turner, Sr., of Nicholasville; and daughter-in-law, Fannie Turner of Lexington, KY; 14 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; two special nephews, Chester Ray Turner of Lexington, KY, and Billy (Tammy) Turner, Hazard, KY. Chester was a retired business owner of Chester Turner & Sons Construction in Lexington. He previously worked at R.J. Reynolds. He volunteered at the local food banks in Nicholasville, always helping others in need. He was a foster parent for many years. He had previously attended Loudon Ave. Church of God and was a charter member of Old Paris Road Church of God. He attended Nicholasville Church of God. His dedication was serving the Lord and helping others work toward making Heaven their home. He continued his love of the outdoors doing fishing and hunting with his son, David, Sr., his grandchildren, and a very special friend, Joe Meador. Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Sat at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd., and will be laid to rest at Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-9pm Friday at the funeral home. The family has requested that donations toward funeral expenses be made directly to Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.

Betty, David and Elizabeth, What a wonderful pleasure and experience it has been knowing Chester. May you have comfort in knowing that he is now a peace with God. He will be missed alot. Im glad for the time we had together. A great teacher thru the years. My Glenn has his Dad now. I'm so happy for them not to endure this old world anymore. Miss them till it hurt's, then hurt's some more. Tear's fall like rain, then you remember a smile, a laugh, or giggle, amen. A rainbow comes out makes a smile come out on the inside. This is what i wish for you in your grief. Helps get you one more step. When all else fe'lls just pray gods still there to carry you.. .........
