Eugene Powell Letcher

CARLISLE - Eugene Powell Letcher, 88, son of the late Earl and Minnie Letcher, passed away on July 3, 2010. He is survived by his wife Ruby Bretz Letcher of 65 years. He was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church, served on the Nicholas County Soil Conservation District Board, Nicholas County School Board, FSA Committee, was a lifelong farmer of dairy and agriculture, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a loving and devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by 2 daughters, Phyllis Smoot, Donna (Ricky) Broderick, and a daughter-in-law, Judy Letcher. 6 grandchildren, Tim (Traci)Letcher, Nicole (Chad)Sparks, Kevin (Nicole) Letcher, Sarah (Justin) Massey, Jacob (Sherri) Broderick, Daniel Broderick. 5 great-grandchildren,, Ryan Minton, Russell Letcher, Ruby Sparks, Rex Letcher, and Owen Letcher. 3 sisters, Marie Crawford, Mary Della ( Tommy) Gillispie, Faye Letcher, and one brother, William (Shirley) Letcher. He was preceded in death by his son, James Letcher, as well as brothers, Estill, Gaylord, Clay, and Ronnie Letcher, and a sister, Wilma McClanahan. Pallbearers will be his nephews, as well as Justin Massey and Chad Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be past/present members of FSA and Conservation Boards that served with Eugene, in addition Todd Myers and Malcolm Cox. Visitation will be Tue 5-8pm. Funeral Wed 11am both to be held at the Carlisle United Methodist Church with burial following in the Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Clark Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
