Harold Eugene "Gene" Bills

Lexington, Kentucky - Harold Eugene "Gene" Bills, 83, husband of Joyce Bills, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 21, 2021. He was the son of the late Julian and Coreen Bills and his late stepmother, Mable Bills, born in Bourbon County. In addition to his wife, Joyce of 58 years, he is survived by his daughter, Pamela Joy (Gerald) Fields; his grandsons, Colin A. and Connor K. Fields; his sisters, Doris Hallford, Barbara Coker, Alyce McCord, and Betty Palmer; his brother, Ray (Brenda) Bills; and his sister-in-law, Kay Bills. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen, Phyllis, and Buck Bills. He graduated from Bourbon Co. Vocational High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a current member of Immanuel Baptist Church, former member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and Andover Baptist Church. He was in the trucking industry for over 63 years including as an owner/operator and was lovingly known as Gasliner. He received numerous safety awards including driving over 1 million miles accident free. He was a member of the National American Truck Historical Society (ATHS) and the ATHS Bluegrass Chapter for over 40 years. He loved to travel and attend ATHS truck shows. After retirement, he volunteered in the cafeteria at Yates Elementary School where he was honored with a "Mr. Bills Day" award for his community service. He was a man of God, loved his family and loved his old trucks. Visitation will be Fri., Nov. 26, 2021, 4-7 pm and service on Sat., Nov. 27, 2021 at 1 pm, Milward-Man O' War, 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington. Interment at Paris Cemetery.
