Herbert Ashcraft Obituary

Herbert Burton Ashcraft, 81, of Sayre Christian Village, Lexington, died Sunday evening, June 8, 2003, at the nursing facility. He was born on December 4, 1921, in Fayette Co., KY; the son of the late Herbert and Mary B. Clark Ashcraft. He was a retired truck driver for Roadway Trucking and a member of the Big Hill Christian Church in Richmond. He was the widower of Ruby Riley Ashcraft, who died earlier this year, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Ashcraft and Douglas Ashcraft. He is survived by one son, Herbert B. Ashcraft, of Lexington; one daughter, Mary Jean Blackford, of Nicholasville; two step-daughters, Pat Spicer, of Richmond and Marilyn Rodgers, of Cynthiana; one brother, T.J. Ashcraft, of Wilmore; one sister, Stephena Helmburg, of Bourbon County; a very special neice, Mary Ann Helmburg, of Lexington; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Richmond, with Rev. Don Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon Wednesday at the Combs, Parsons, & Collins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Paul Helmburg, Nathan Helmburg, James Bailey, Joe Ray Endicott, Jerry Spicer and Bill Rodgers.
